Resident Evil 4 Remake Passes Major Franchise Sales Milestone New

Capcom has been doing exceptionally well with its remakes of the iconic Resident Evil series. The recent news that Resident Evil 4 has sold over 9 million copies since its release is a testament to that success. The impressive sales figures for Resident Evil 4 were likely boosted by the launch of the Resident Evil Gold Edition in February 2023, along with the iOS version of the remake that came out at the end of 2023.

It’s no shock to fans that the legendary horror game has achieved remarkable success, with Resident Evil 4 recently reaching the impressive milestone of 8 million copies sold. Launched in March 2023, this remake of the beloved 2005 classic follows Leon S. Kennedy as he battles a hidden cult to save Ashley Graham, the daughter of the president. This installment represents a significant shift in gameplay, leaning more towards action and moving away from its survival horror origins.

The official CapcomDev1 Twitter account has shared some exciting news about the sales progression, along with a delightful piece of Resident Evil 4 artwork. This illustration showcases a variety of characters from the game, such as Ada, Krauser, Saddler, Salazar, and Bitores Mendez, all enjoying a fun bingo game with delicious snacks. Additionally, Resident Evil 4 has just received a new update, enhancing the experience for PS5 Pro players.

Resident Evil 4’s Milestones Just Don’t Stop Coming

Since its launch, Resident Evil 4 has rapidly become the fastest-selling title in the Resident Evil franchise, as noted by Alex Aniel, the author of the fan book Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil. For comparison, Resident Evil Village had sold just 500,000 copies by the time it reached its eighth quarter.

With the tremendous success of the series, especially Resident Evil 4, fans are eagerly anticipating what Capcom will do next. Many are hoping for a remake of Resident Evil 5, and given the timeline of the previous remakes, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see an announcement soon. There are also other titles in the Resident Evil franchise that could benefit from a fresh update, such as Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil CODE: Veronica, both of which play significant roles in the overarching narrative. Additionally, an announcement for Resident Evil 9 would surely excite the community.
