Jason Momoa Channels Lobo In New Instagram Post New

Jason Momoa gets into character as he reads his script for Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The Aquaman actor posted a clip on social media where he’s reviewing the screenplay.

Known for his iconic portrayal of Arthur Curry, or Aquaman, in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Jason Momoa made waves with his first Aquaman film in 2018, which was a blockbuster success. This success paved the way for a sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, released in 2023. Momoa is now stepping away from the role of the King of the Seven Seas to join the newly reimagined DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran, taking on the character Lobo, which he adores. He recently posted a behind-the-scenes video of himself with the Supergirl script.

Momoa is clearly excited to take on the role of his favorite character from the DC universe. He shared a video on Instagram where he’s holding the screenplay for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which had the note “FOR LOBO’S EYES ONLY.” In the video, he’s sitting by a fire, fully embodying his Lobo character with a lit cigar in one hand. Lobo, known as an intergalactic bounty hunter and a fan-favorite anti-hero, is often seen with a cigar, making Momoa’s choice to include one in the clip a perfect fit for the character. He also posted a sweet photo with his girlfriend, Adria Arjona, where they seem to be dancing and celebrating his new role as Lobo.

In a recent Instagram post, Momoa confirmed his role as Lobo by sharing a quote from an earlier interview where he mentioned his enthusiasm for the character. He said, “Lobo was… I used to collect comics, not so much anymore, but he was always my favorite. I’ve always wanted to play Lobo because, honestly, it’s the perfect role for me.” He added, “If they call me to play him, it’s a definite yes!” Gunn noticed the post and warmly welcomed Momoa to the DC Universe. Additionally, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch chimed in, suggesting, “Let’s make a Lobo feature.”

Momoa’s latest post shows him in high spirits, celebrating with his girlfriend. It’s no surprise, considering his long-standing desire to portray this character. In a 2023 interview with Fandango while promoting the Aquaman sequel, the Fast X actor shared that he had tried out for Batman but never felt it was the right fit. When he got a callback, he thought it was for Lobo. He was quite surprised to learn he was cast as Aquaman, as he hadn’t initially seen himself in that role until it was clarified how perfectly he matched it.

Momoa really nailed the role of Aquaman, even though he had some initial doubts about it. Now, as he steps into the shoes of Lobo, his passion for the character will undoubtedly shine through. With his impressive physique, captivating presence, and distinctive voice, he’s the perfect fit for this quirky role. His long hair, towering stature, and edgy personality are sure to bring a fresh and exciting take on Lobo in the movies.
