Blue Exorcist made its comeback last season with an exciting new arc, and now the eagerly awaited Blue Night Saga episodes are finally airing after the holiday break. Fans can catch all the action on Crunchyroll.
Studio VOLN took over the series starting from the third season, stepping in for A-1 Pictures. Recently, they unveiled the new opening and ending themes with the premiere of the latest arc’s first episode. Many fans thought it would take longer for the studio to begin adapting the Blue Night Saga.
The latest details about the home video releases for the new season indicate that it will consist of 12 episodes, with two DVD/Blu-ray volumes scheduled for release. Typically, information from DVD releases is reliable, so while it’s not impossible, it’s unlikely that this arc will exceed 12 episodes.
The Blue Night Saga
Known as the Blue Night Remembrance arc, the Blue Night Saga dives deep into the backstory and origins of Rin Okuruma. This pivotal event is a cornerstone of the series’ lore, generating excitement among fans, especially those who haven’t yet explored the manga. We can also anticipate a strong presence from Mephisto Pheles, a vital character in this narrative.
As this series continues from the Fall 2024 Anime Season, the core team and voice actors are unchanged, which means fans can look forward to the same high quality in both production and performances.
The Anime Is Now Catching Up With the Manga
This storyline spans volumes 22 to 25 and includes 21 chapters. Given that the Beyond the Snow arc, which has 16 chapters, was adapted in just one cour, it’s probably not feasible for this arc to be completely covered in the Winter 2025 Anime Season. Following the Blue Night Saga, we have the current Of One Cloth arc.
Given the recent breaks in the manga’s release, it’s unclear what the production plans to do following the Blue Night Saga. They may decide to pause the adaptation to allow Kazue Kato to complete the arc.
